I think there`s nothing really terrible if Lem`s readers
write their creative works in the forum.

Great , I print.Don`t judge me strictly.

Slightly radiating sky
We try to reach it though
Undoubtfully it is too high
That`s why we do but grow
Like a young sprout rises from the ground
To be the tree and to be high
But fails and falls being cut and bound
To be the fire and to light the night
Born to die men made machines
That`ll fligh to space without the wings
And make the newest sun
Instead of fading one

I welcome you to try own hand at writing.

I don't need encouragement... but I don't feel like translating all that rubbish I wrote to English ::)

Let's just enjoy your poetry, then. It's quite charming, even though I got lost in all those mixed tenses ::)

It shouldn`t be only poetry, what about the works of prose or essays?

That's what I meant, I write prose, but not in English.

Language Barrier.  :P ::) ;)
Same problem with me, I got 129 sites only in my last "specialized diary", but not the time or the mood to translate this all from german to english.

That`ll fligh to space without the wings

I don't know if you just meant to say 'fly,' but your 'fligh' adds a connotation of weightlessness--it associates your journey to space with sigh, weigh, light, and other breathy 'gh' words.  For some reason, it also made me read the rest of the poem with an Irish accent.

I have nothing but encouragement to offer anyone brave enough to share their work.

Stanislaw Lem rather than inspire me to write, he inspired me to read more science fiction novels.

well, no poetry, no prose, but some music.

i dedicated a small five-track-ep to lem, as some sort of thank-you for all the inspiration (and fun) i had and have with his books.

you can download the "five odes to lem ep" for free from here: http://c67.org/binkcrsh/BK028_PHOTOPHOB_-_FIVE_ODES_TO_LEM_EP/bk028.html

(or just go to http://c67.org/binkcrsh and click on "essence" > "bk028").

lovely greetings from the experimental electronic music front,
herwig holzmann

you are right, though the points you mention are there in many writers. Why Sf, why not philosophers: Nietzsche has his sense of humour as well, a vision of reality and science links (though less). Lem inspires me to think, but what in his work inspires some to write themselves? You writers out there? Why do you write when you read Lem? And why in this forum?

You repeat Mark Twain who said somewhere that those who read never write `cause they are unable to do this.
About the others I must admit that Lem is especial.

I myself read and am inspired by Lem because of a few things, first that come to my mind are:
- the unmatched richness of ideas in his books,
- the climax of his 'serious' books (like tales of Pirx or Fiasco and Magellan's Nebula ) which can be counterbalanced only by...
-...the feel of his 'funny' books (like Mortal Engines).

And above all:
- his writing style, which means the language he uses, at least in Polish, I don't know how it looks after translation.

It looks splendid especially in Ukrainian translations,`cause it is closer to Polish.

Hello
I read some Lem's books and not so long ago I composed a track inspired by "Terminus" novell.
It is experimental track but I hope someone could find it interesting.
Hear it at http://www.myspace.com/whitefalkon
Feel free to leave comments.

Thanks for sharing your work. It definitely has some desolate feeling to it that could be connected/inspired by 'Terminus' novel. Also your Burzum inspirations are somehow audible:)  I won't go further with commenting since I guess it's a matter of taste...
