could please anyone advise me as to the date, time and place of the memorial service? I have called the Polish Embassy as well as the Institute of Polish Culture in Budapest but neither of them could answer my question.

My favorite writer has gone.

I was so shocked, and one day later, I still can't believe. What to say when one of greatest mind of human kind passes by. Solaris, The Invincible, Summa Technologiae, Fiasco, all those great works witnessed about unbelievable insight into human condition in terms of universe.

Croatian leading newspapers are full of news and obituaries. This is one of those rare deaths which rings thru all circles. I don't remember such feedback since Stanley Kubrick's death, when the lady at local newspaper stand todl me "Kubrick is dead! Do you know 2001, I never understood that movie!" This is similar, and everyone are mentioning "that Solaris"...

No death of a widely known person has affected me as much as this one. In fact I have little new to add - all I wanted to express has been already said in this topic...

The greatest author of the 20th century has passed away. There are some people you feel so close to you even though you have never met them. Goodbye master, teacher, friend.

One of my very favourite writers. I discovered The Star Diaries whilst travelling in San Fransico -  bought for me by a wonderful poet - and felt compelled to read everything he had written. Solaris remains a truly rare and wonderous thing and neither film has come close to matching the one in my mind. His books have brought me great joy.

I am truly sad to return home to news of his death. My deep sympathies to all of his family and friends.
