I think I sounded a tad harsh about Soderburgs Solaris, I mean I like it but having read even a little bit about Tarkovsky his life and work..the Russian fellow does sound in another league altogether..dare I say an artist of the less compromising type. We shall see, I have asked a friend to rent out Tarkovskys Solaris...meanwhile i am rereading Tales of Pirx...with great delight...despite the tech having fallen way out of date..still possesses its incredible charm. I agree with Carlos...the best thing that has come of the Clooney version (apart from his paycheque) is that maybe more people will investigate Lems book and other works from that....its hard to penetrate the near solid wall of gold block lettered blockbuster titled banalia..but it might just happen.

Tarkovsky..I am scouting out for that at the moment and look forward to it..

Hello All

I wonder if there are any UK based Lem fans. I have just joined and looked at the various forums in English which are very interesting reading.

I am not being particularly patriotic (I hope)..I mean Lem fans are a nation unto themselves right? I just note that the great man and his works seem to be much better known in continental Europe. I went to my local library in Hastings UK the other day to look for some Lem titles..I had to order them from the vaults and when they arrived..two weeks later..the last out stamp was 1989!...So, sadly he does not grace the shelves of many libraries here.

If there aren't any UKers as such I am happy to communicate with any Lem enthusiasts either in English or Japanese [ch26085][ch26412][ch35486] from anywhere!
