Magellan Nebula
« dnia: Czerwca 13, 2010, 01:08:45 am »
Finnish tv just broadcasted Ikaria XB1. The novel Magellan nebula has not been translated into Finnish. Question:  is this czechoslovak sci-fi film actually based on Lem´S novel?

Officially, the film does not based on the novel Magellan Nebula. But in film appears orbital battle station - this is a topic directly taken from Lem's novel. Furthermore, the aim of space expedition is very similar.
But we can say that the relationship is really a very poor.
Sed tamen esse potest totaliter aliter.

Well, the scenes in which Ikaria crew find remains of "capitalist" ship from XXth century are taken directly from Nebula. Although I'm sure this particular motive is one of the things Lem was least proud of. It's easy to find on youtube, it's the only fragment I have seen so far. Quite interesting, nice classic feeling. Being from Poland myself (and having lived some under communism) I find the depiction of the capitalists very familiar:)
